Proven Leadership, Service and Commitment

Dear Friend,

Values such as family, faith, community, honesty, hard work and service are strong in Kirkwood and Des Peres.

I believe we share these values and I would like to take them to the Missouri State Legislature.  For this reason, I am asking for your support as I seek election as the State Representative from the 94th district.

I have a proven record of leadership, commitment and service and will continue to be a leader as I serve in Jefferson City.  Some of the issues that are important to me are:

  • Improving public education

  • Keeping taxes low

  • Controlling government spending

  • Protecting our homes and businesses from eminent domain

  • Reforming healthcare to make it affordable and available

  • Improving the climate for small business

  • Reducing illegal drug production and usage

  • Supporting Veterans affairs

I am a life-long resident of Kirkwood and educated in its public schools.  My wife, Ellen, and I have seen our three eldest children; Katie, Betsy, and Larry graduate from KHS and our youngest, Eric, is currently a junior.  For the past 30 years, I have established a record of positive leadership, service and commitment in the Kirkwood area that includes the following:

  • Kirkwood School Board member;  1992-2004 (President 1998-2000)

  • Chairman of the Kirkwood School District’s successful Prop i bond issue campaign; 2005

  • Vice Commander, American Legion Post 156 – Kirkwood;  2002-present

  • Kirkwood School District Budget and Finance Committee;  1991-present

  • Organized Veterans programs in Kirkwood Schools; 1993-present

  • Keysor School PTO President and Vice-President

  • Hope Unlimited tutor at Nipher School

  • Church elder, deacon, teacher, youth-advisor, coach

  • Kirkwood School District Campaigns: 1-2-3-4, PACE, YES

  • School District Committees: Curriculum, Building Usage, Capital Improvements

  • City of Kirkwood’s Sesquicentennial Committee

  • YMCA Rebuilding Committee

  • Kirkwood Youth basketball, volleyball and baseball coach

As a recently retired 29-year Budget/Project Manager for the Dept. of Defense, Army Aviation and Logistics Commands, and a U.S. Naval Officer (1971-75), I have the experience to deal with the tough issues facing the State of Missouri and the proven ability to work with a variety of other people to find solutions.

Best Regards,

Rick
